Following the trail, you pass Tadapani, another viewpoint with stunning mountain views. Finally, you will ascend to the Khopra Ridge. The ridge is a narrow trail that winds its way through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows.

The trek demands good stamina and endurance, especially on steeper sections. Regular training beforehand is highly recommended. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather, including rain, wind, and cold temperatures, particularly at higher altitudes. Pack appropriate gear accordingly. Permits require for Khopra Ridge Trek

To hike in the Khipra Ridge trek, trekkers must obtain ACAP permits and a TIMS card. Permits are required for inspections and reviews of plans and equipment. It also helps to ensure they meet safety standards and minimize risks for participants.

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit: Khopra Ridge Trek falls in the Annapurna region. Like every other trek to Annapurna region, the Khopra Ridge Trek also requires an ACAP permit. It’s mandatory for all the trekkers. The cost is NPR 3,000 (around USD 30) per person. Obtain your permit at the Kathmandu or Pokhara Tourism Board offices.  

Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card: This permit is mandatory for all trekkers in Nepal. Similar to the ACAP permit you can obtain the TIMS Card from the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu. Or obtain your permits from the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), or online. The cost is NPR 1,000 (around USD 10) for individual trekkers and NPR 2,000 (around USD 20) for group trekkers.

The best time to visit the Khopra Ridge trek

Spring (March-May) and autumn (September – November). 

Spring and autumn season are considered as the peak seasons.  These seasons offer beautiful trekking trails under clear blue skies, basking in comfortable temperatures perfect for hiking. During peak seasons witness the stunning scenery as vibrant rhododendrons paint the landscape. Compared to spring, autumn is less crowded. Be prepared for the possibility of snow at higher altitudes. It’s highly recommended to necessitate proper gear and planning. Occasionally, you might encounter strong winds too. Autumn is almost similar to spring in terms of clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and breathtaking landscapes. Again, you’ll enjoy fewer crowds compared to the spring season. However, keep in mind that occasional rain showers might occur, and November can bring colder temperatures at higher altitudes.
